1996 YJ?

For a while I've been baffled as to why they skipped a model year on the YJ. Was it because they were doing so much work prepping for the TJ? Couldn't they just of released the 1995 YJ as a 1996? Did they ever ship 1996 models elsewhere?

Re: 1996 YJ?

Why is it so hard to accept?

The YJ ran late that year, they didn't want to keep producing a YJ when they had already released all the hype on the TJ. They purposely held the TJ until the middle of the 1996 year to build up the anticipation so there would be a glut on them. If anyone remembers, the TJ's were VERY hard to come by and there was a waiting list. It took us 4 months to get ours.

There was no "gap" technically, and ours is a 1996, although it's considered a 1997. I know people that got great deals on YJ's so the dealers could move them, and they were still arriving on the lot in 1996.
