OK....Time for Pics of my new bumpers I built

Here's some pics of my new bumpers. Thanks to Vikinggg that came up with a cool camera.
This is the first of my rear one. It is 2X4 with a 3X1 1/2 and 1 1/2 for the carrier.

Side shot of the rear. It is flush mounted to the rear crossmember. And yes there is angle brackets to the frame.(inside and out)

A close-up of the hinge . It is really a set of collars with a pipe (tig)welded in between to create the piece. It is a "tight" fit and was made out of garage door spring stops and rod. Cheap and strong as heck. The bar is 1" and goes through the bumper top to bottom. I added zerk fittings to the holes the allen screws came out of. I don't see this wearing out for a long time. How many revolutions does a swingout carrier ever really have???? Not enought to warrent bearings in my opinion.

A shot of my front one. (no comments on my crappy "fishing lure" winch. It still beats the heck out of a come-a-long that I still carry)

Nice.........

Hey Ddog how did you make the front bumper bend toward the back? Did you cut the 2x4 on an angle and then weld it back? I like both of them. Hopefully, I will make some for my Scrambler when it is back together.

Later,

2 things.........
1 I still need to drill and tap in the top of the rod of the hinge so that I can cover it with a washer to keep dirt and water somewhat out. I would say to help it stay on but it fits so tight it takes 10 min to get it off the bumper as is.
@ Watch out for the next mod., My cage is coming up next.

Thats exactly what I did Tom. I cut a small "pie" at the back, then bent it and welded it to give the angle.

Looks good DD. Simple but strong. I agree with your comments on the hinge, it looks strong and should last a long time. I like the back bend on the front, purty snazzy!
Gonna start on mine soon.
