Re: D44 Install Update!

Matkins Frame makes a kit to install Scout 44s under a CJ. It's $155, and worth every penny. I installed it on my CJ, just weld it on!

I think the site is www.matkinsextreme.com

Re: D44 Install Update!

looks kind of funny like that,
i'm in the middle of a 44 swap myself and am just about ready to change the caster myself. you say 20 minutes, cool. so did you just grind the weld down all the way around and rotate the knuckle with a hammer? thats what i'm planning on doing. i was thinking about heating the knuckle with a torch if it won't turn.
any pointers would be appreciated. i like to make stuff as easy as i can

heres the page i'm starting about my swap http://www.geocities.com/yj3qtr_ton/dana44front.html

Re: D44 Install Update!

i have found (after doing 4 sets of scout axles) that it is a lot easier to first pound the knuckles off a bit and then rotate them. most people are afraid to really wail on the knuckles, but they do not break. if the knuckles are not moving with the bfh, its time to grind a bit more

Re: D44 Install Update!

Yea, I used the grinder to take all the weld off until I could see a small crack all the way around the tube and the knuckle! Moved quite easy after all the weld is off!
