Waggy Front 44 Disassembly

I will be starting the process of tearing down my Dana 44 axle out of a donor waggy. It had factory locking hubs but I think that they are probably shot. I am wondering where I can get my hands on some instructions for taking these things apart, it looks like it needs alot of cleaning up but for $75 including the steering linkage, pitman arm, and all spring plates, etc I think I got a pretty good deal. Its still sitting in the back of my cherokee waiting for me to start on it. I am thinking of buying a waggy chiltons manual but those that maybe you guys had a good resource online.

Kris

I do the same thing every weekend, its just the location where I do it that changes!

Re: Waggy Front 44 Disassembly

I used my Haynes Wag and J pickup manual to service my hubs, and a close observation, there was so much mud in there, I couldn't see the clip rings...

Re: Waggy Front 44 Disassembly

for those hubs.. take the outer part off.. (turning wheel thing).. then on the inner part of the hub.. around the outside.. there should be a clip ring.. remove that.. then on the end of the axle shaft.. there is another clip ring.. remove that.. pull inner hub out.. then you will have a axle nut.. spin off.. then a locking ring.. take that out.. then an inner axle nut.. spin that off.. and the whole bearing hub assy should come off.. brakes and everything.. so you will have to remove the caliper before that..
i am doing a write up on this in the next few days on my website..
so if you need any more help feel free to email me..
