CJ Axle Swap

I am looking to swap out the stock axles on my CJ and would like the best bang for my buck. I want to run 35' or 38" tires. Does anyone have any recommendations.

Re: CJ Axle Swap

You will hear all kinds of different response on this question. The first thing we all need to now is what kind of wheeling do you do. If it mud you can go with smaller rears but if you go for the rocks you need to go bigger. I pretty much only run mud and sand hills so i am building a 9in early bronco rear and a 44 waggy front cut down.

Can someone please bring me a hammer my 33's just ate my fender again. Damn i need more lift.

Re: CJ Axle Swap

many different options. how wide do you want to be? what axles do you want to run? how do you plan to use your jeep? answer these q's and we can give you a better directed answer.

Re: CJ Axle Swap

Since you are from the south like I am, I'm going to tell you to find some Chevy 1-tons and be done with it! Get the lowest gears for them and some Detroit lockers and you'll be able to take on anything!

Re: CJ Axle Swap

I want to build it to wheel anywhere because with the job I have I can move anywhere from coast to coast. I am however on a budget; therefore, what would be the best way to go about getting my hands on some good axles. I have a TJ with a pretty good set-up, will just swap in a Dana 44 up front when I trash the Dana 30 and a pair of warn axles.

Re: CJ Axle Swap

Take a look at jeepgods website and look at what he used. His front rear is no problem to find. His rear is a tuffer one to find but is one heck of a set up. This may be what you are looking for. Its not over built but not under built.

Re: CJ Axle Swap

I've got a D-60 rear 5 lug and several D-44 fronts that drop on either side. Email if interested.
