Re: Welding Spider Gears??

don't weld the front. you won't be able to steer and you will hate it. buy a locker for the front and weld the rear.

Re: Welding Spider Gears??

it may work then. i have a buddy who put a detroit in his rear 60 and welded the front and really wished he had done it the other way around. his would not turn very far with the hubs locked in. yes you could unlock the hubs but it is not always convienient and what if you need to be locked in and turn at the same time? i saw your post on por and someone said it wouldn't turn only on hard pack well his wouldn't in slick stuff either. it may work for you, i'm just letting you in on my experience with it. good luck though.

Re: Welding Spider Gears??

Couple of the guys I wheel with swear by the weld job, there turning radius isn't much worse than a vehicle with a mechanical locker, since the mechanical locker is locking them up too. I run welded in the rear and a lock rite in the front, and was backing up to turn around some corners that welded rigs were also so, I didn't notice a lot of difference except the two or three times I wasn't on the gas and the LockRite actually clicked and unlocked for a moment.
