just finished rear bumper(pic\'s)

Finaly finished my rear bumper. The hardware store only had one shackle in stock, so I'll have to just have one for the time being

there are more pictures and a small wright-up at http://members.home.net/jeepmaxx/bumper/bumperpage.htm
check it out and let me know what you think.
Thanks
Maxx

Nice to see a homemade bumper that isn't a monster that will kill approach or departure. Nice and simple, looks good.

Re: just finished rear bumper(pic\'s)

Nice bumper, but it doesn't look like it's tied to anything other than the crossmember. (Am I missing a picture or something?)

A suggestion would be to secure it to the frame somehow before you start tugging out jeeps, or you may rip the rear crossmember right off.

If you look at a lot of the rear bumpers out there, they have some method of tieing into the frame somehow.

I tied mine into the tapped holes in the rear of the frame rails that face UP into the frame.

Just my opinion
Good luck
Pete

I think in the last pic he explains its tied to the frame with angle iron.

Re: just finished rear bumper(pic\'s)

The jeep had a trailer hitch when I got. The hitch was tied to the frame with the angle brackets. I use those same brackets to tie my bumper into. here's a better picture

Man, I love my digital camera!! It's so great for this kind of stuff.
Thanks for looking
Maxx
