Brake booster master cyl swap?

Anyone know if a YJ brake booster/master cylinder (nonantilock) will swap into a 81 CJ7? I'd like to upgrade the "Project", with some YJ equipment just acquired yesterday.

If the mounting holes in the firewall are the same it should be extremely easy.. if not juse drill new holes and mount... shouldn't be to hard.

The only thing to worry about is if your present air filter housing is going to be in the way when you get done, I've installed one in an 86 CJ-7, but it had the MPI kit so it fit perfect. I just ran across a set-up for a CJ in a bone yard near here, hope this helps out, Later.

Re: Brake booster master cyl swap?

I was more concerned about the YJ master cyl pressure and volume being correct for the the 82 CJ brake components.
I'll have a 401 under the hood and hadn't thought about clearence problems, might want to start measureing to make sure it'll fit.
Has anyone else tried this setup before? Just to save me the trial and error time.

I didn't change any of the other parts in the system other than from no power to YJ power brake booster and master cylinder. Hope this helps out. Later.

401 shouldnt be any problem. I have a BIG booster mounted in mine along side a 304 and the only clearance issues would have been if I had been running a straight six.
