Blue RTV silicone, always works great for me.

Wow, you can get a nice tan on your arms, from welding with no shirt on.

Re: What Goop To Seal NP231 After an SYE Install???

i recommend the RTV BLUE 6B........
worked great for me on this job. no leaks anywhere ie where i split the case, at the tailhouse, at the yoke nor at the speedo gear. kutyafal just posted yesterday about his SYE job leaking bad and he used RTV BLACK. i don't know if it was the wrong goop for the job or whether he didn't put enough on or what. i can also say that i was in doubt of whether i properly hooked up the oil pump pick-up tube correctly so i took off the yoke and tailhouse to inspect . i was alright and re-sealed with same BLUE and again no leaks. run a good bead and i got an exterior "squeeze-bead" all around so i know i got enough.

Yeap. Blue goop rulez! I've redone my SYE yesterday, let it sit overnight, filled tcase today and voila, no leaks! I also cut a very small hole and ran a 1/16-1/8 bead all around instead of the smear job I did before and got some squeeze-bead too. I made sure I got all the mating surfaces clean as my plate. Well, actually cleaner. It's bolted up (tcase drop removed, yeppeee!) and ready to roll out tomorrow for SOA!
