Re: Some \'wheeling pics of this past weekend

It looks like you guys had a great time.
And,.... I hate to be a Kill Joy,..but what have you guys got, against safety? It doesnt look like there is a full roll cage in the bunch. The terrain you guys are running can easily cause a roll over. You might not think so, but I have seen ARCA drivers tip over their rigs on terrain, no more aggressive than that, just from a momentary lack of attention.
And roll cage are so easy and affrodable to build. It also says that you take the sport seriouse, and consider the saftey of you and your passengers, the most important performance feature of your rig(as it should be).
If there is only one contribution, that I ever make on this BBS, is that everyone in a Jeep, understands the importance of a roll cage, and is embarrassed to be seen on the trail without basic safety requirements, then I will have done my part. No other rig has the freedom and wide open feel of a Jeep, so few other rigs have the critical need to add a full/or modified cage.
I digress.
Looks like fun though.

Wow, you can get a nice tan on your arms, from welding with no shirt on.

Re: Some \'wheeling pics of this past weekend

Thanks for the invite, Casey. I had fun(even if I did get stuck riding shotgun in the little jeep)...wish I didn't have to go back so soon. But a 2 1/2 hr. drive was calling. By the way that little jeep did alot, and it was fun dragging over everything. I was surprised of what that thing could do. I had never done sand before, I guess those wide street tires have a use after all. Thanks to everyone there, I had a good time.

My tire got reseated yesterday after I put on new battery cables on the Grand Wagonner. Boy that would have sucked to have them go out while I was down in Gulf Breeze. There sure was alot of corrosion on them.

I am in the process of securing a trailer for the YJ to do trips like this. I have 4 of the 4'x8' utility trailers and am tradeing 2 for a 7' wide tandam axle trailer to haul my Jeep on. Hope it comes through.

Re: Some \'wheeling pics of this past weekend

You are absolutely right. I have plans for a roll cage that I will be building soon. I have been wheeling for years and haven't built one yet and I admit it isn't very smart. I know that there is rollover potential in the terrain that I wheel and there are some obstacles that I won't attempt because I don't have a full cage. But I am not going to stop wheeling or stop trying certain obstacles until i get a roll cage.
On to another topic: Hey jason! What's up. Yeah Mikes little Jeep can go a lot of places and you are right, his tires are good for sand. Mine tend to dig if I don't watch it. I'm glad you had a good time. Too bad you had to leave so early. I blew a brake line going to the next spot and rode without brakes for the rest of the day. That sucked! Check out the attached pic to see what you missed. This is what we came up on. These guys are just a little country.
