Differential carrier question

Is there a way to tell by the size or casting of what ratio gears a Dana carrier can hold? I have a Dana 44 open carrier that I purchased off of Ebay and want to make sure that it is supposed to be for 3.73 and lower #. Is there something in the casting number or otherwise marked somewhere else? I have two Powr-lok limited slips for a Dana 44 and they're both for 3.92 & up #, and the open carrier that I bought seems to be about the same size.

Re: Differential carrier question

call randys ring and pinion ( or whoever you plan to order the gears from) they should be able to give you the part number for the correct carrier and tell you where to find it on there.

Ive got the same question!

when I get around to it I was planning to drop it in the housing and check to see if the pinion lines up correctly with the thick ring gear, but Ill probably ask also when I order the install kit
