Metal skills

Where did you all get your skills? I am pretty new here but I can already see the value of being a good with welder and cutting torch.

I have done a little of both when I used to make theatre sets. It is a little different when I am dealing with my and my families safety.

Any suggestions?

Mike

Re: Metal skills

There is really nothing you can do. You must be born with the skills. Hahaha
Just get yourself a welder, and torch, and start out by welding up your own bumpers and skid plates, and the likes.
By all means use a professional or skilled friend for steering and suspension mods, untill your skills become adequate for those types of projects. It doesnt take long though, with the practice you can get by building all those little projects that are always pending.
Of course your Jeep can end up weighing a couple thousand pounds extra, with all the little doo dads you can create, but thats when the cutting torch comes in handy.

Wow, you can get a nice tan on your arms, from welding with no shirt on.
