I have a '97 TJ, and need to do a tune up on the straight six. The A/C compressor is right on top of the #1 spark plug. Any one done this before? Do I just loosen the four bolts on top of the Compressor (after removing the belt) or is there another trick?
The swivel socket is definitely a big help. The hardest part for me is getting the blasted wire back on to the new plug. If you take the bolts out of the a/c mount make sure to put some anti seize on them. Steel bolts into aluminum hole=stuck after a few years.
A set of insulated plug wire pliers is a big help on removing or reinserting that front plug wire without damage. Use dielectric grease inside the boots to ease assembly, and later removal, along with improved water protection.
