Are TFI and HEI plug wires the same?

I was wondering if the TFI(TeamRush) and HEI plug wires are the same?

Thanks,
Tom

Re: Are TFI and HEI plug wires the same?

I think GM HEI distributer caps are MALE connectors, while FORD DURSPARK are female at the cap.

so the cap ends of the plug wires are probably different

I got a large ford distributor cap when I changed to the TFI coil and all the terminals are the same as the GM HEI. That's for a v8 but I think the 6 is the same also.

Re: Are TFI and HEI plug wires the same?

The T.R. upgrade involves switching to a distributor cap that has male terminals on it like the hei does. I don't know for sure if the cap terminals are the same diameter, but I think they are. The hei wires have a protrusion on the boots on the dist end that engages the plug wire hold down on the hei dist.

Ford and HEI use MALE Connection.

Re: Are TFI and HEI plug wires the same?

I stand corrected, the SMALLER Ford Duraspark has female ends.

I guess its obvious now who hasnt gotten around to the widecap, tfi coil upgrade now.

hanging head in shame...

if you are doing the upgrade on a 258, get some good wires for a 4.0L HO engine. i told the guy at the parts counter it was a 1993 cherokee 4x4, 4.0L. the wires fit perfect! matt

Yep, they're the same. The wires on my HEI are originally meant for a Ford 300 six cyliner with the large cap.
