I need an answer. I recently installed a new oil sending unit and stock gauge. My problem is the gauge jest maxes out upon starting the engine. The engine was recently rebuilt so I realize it has good pressure. What should it be reading?? I know this is kind of a silly question but, the small things bother me most!!
does the gauge stay maxed or does it drop. kind of did the same thing on my recently rebuilt engine and replaced it with a mechanical unit, it gives a better reading.
Mudman, thanks for responding. The gauge does not stay maxed. When the ignition is turned on it goes all the way to the right. You are absolutely correct about the mech. ones. My issue is I like to keep the interior stock (I know it's anal).
If it goes all the way right and stays the entire time the ignition is on look at your wiring. If the oil sender wire is grounded it will max out the guage.
