\'74 CJ5 Alternator

I'm trying to track down a replacement alternator for my 1974 CJ5. I need to cross reference it. I got this off of it - Prestolite - 8EM2025KA - Date 045 - 51 Amp 12V - 110-356. I think Prestolite made them for Motorola - they have an on board voltage regulator. Any help in getting me a part number for a Motorola or any other direct replacement would be great. Thanks in advance.

Re: \'74 CJ5 Alternator

I thought I needed to replace mine, but it turned out be a bad wire, but I checked at NAPA and found a replacement for $64 with a 2 year warranty. Dont remember any of the #'s but any auto parts store should be able to find one for you.

Re: \'74 CJ5 Alternator

When mine went bad, I bought a GM alternator (single wire, internal reg type). It was a little bigger, had to bend a bracket, but it works great, more out put than the stock one 7127-9m Prestolite.

Re: \'74 CJ5 Alternator

thanks, I tried a few auto stores - they couldn't find one for me. I hadn't tried NAPA, Went there today, I'll have it tomorrow - hope it fits, If not, I think I'll try the GM idea. Thanks for all the help.
