Torque arm mount diagram on NP231 ?!?

I'm reinstalling the tcase skid plate after having completed the SYE install and need to know how the tcase stabilizer or torque arm mount supposed to go back together. It's the single stud off to the side with two doghnut-shaped bushings on it. The hole on the tcase mount seems too big for the bushings. Anybody has a diagram or picture or can tell me the order of assembly? FSM has squat on this...

Here are some pictures to illustrate what I'm talking about:

These show the way I think it should go together but it seems too loose. Any ideas?

Re: Torque arm mount diagram on NP231 ?!?

i shimmed mine with some extra washers on the outside of skid so its tight. i figure it's not going anywhere as the transcase is bolted to tranny and tranny is bolted to skid.
looks like what you have will work. i think my big problem was that the bolt had been hit and damaged where the nut wouldn't go on all the way to the skid so i added some big washers to take up some threads so the nut could get tight. i never really looked at the bushing configuration and now i am curious! curious enough to crawl under there after that clutch job? not today! i will also say that i have had the skid plate off a few times ie tranny fluid drain, SYE and have put back together the same way each time and all works grand! good luck and did you remember to connect the oil pump in the 231?

Re: Torque arm mount diagram on NP231 ?!?

Yeah, thanks. My SYE install is a bust. I used the black high-temp RTV silicon sealant and it leaks all over! It had black sealant on it originally so I thought that's what I should use but once I started to smear it on and saw the fine granules in the sealant I had a bad fealing about it. Darn, now I get to do it all over again. I don't suppose I can do anything about it now sort of redoing it, can I? What kind of sealant should I use? Blue RTV?

yeah you're screwed! must be the wrong RTV. i used the BLUE and no leaks at all. even smeared some a light coat on speedo gear. take it apart, clean all surfaces and do with the blue. you will need another yoke seal washer as they usually get destroyed. good luck .

OK, so could anybody take a picture of their torque arm mount? I want to be sure before I install it. Thanks.

i think it would be hard to get a picture of this with the skid plate on right? you have the skid off so your pic shows ok. i think you are good to go with your set-up.
