Spring help for trailering

Ive got the 78 CJ7 with new custom swing out tire / Dual gass can / high lift jack carrier + 5x8 trailer tounge weight saging 4 inch spring lift blues. I need about 1 1/2 or 2 in lift, I heard bad stuff about the add A leaf fix making the ride real rough, and I already have semi lifted shackles, I realy dont want to reinvent the springs I have because I like to take the carrier off for around town driving. Any help on what the options are?? thanks jim.

Re: Spring help for trailering

you should look into an airbag overload kit or just have your springs rearched

Re: Spring help for trailering

They make coil spring type overload springs for leaf springs. If all you want is extra overload capacity, they only work when overloaded, otherwise you won't know you have them.If they get in the way off-road,they just unbolt( one axle clamp). I've seen them at Auto-Zone,Pep-Boys,Sears.They should be around 30.00 bucks and come in different load ranges. If all you want is extra hauling capacity sometimes, they are cheap, work, and you can put them on in 30 min.by yourself, and you don't even know they are there unless you need them.Hope this helps

Re: Spring help for trailering

I'm close to Arcadia.E-mail me at [email protected]--I've been unable to locate a parts place down near Ft. Polk that has parts for my new toy, M37 Dodge Military.Think this would fall in the SWB designation 112"!! Ha Ha Just don't weigh it,right at 3 tons.Hope the springs work!
