Jeep automatic transmission Q.

Is the Jeep 999 the same as the Chrysler TF 999?

Re: Jeep automatic transmission Q.

I would think the bolt patterns different.. but more than likely the internals swap into each other.

Re: Jeep automatic transmission Q.

Yep, just the case (bellhousing bolt pattern) is different. Stuff like rebuild kit's, valve bodies/shift kits, and oil pans are all the same.

TF999/904 and the TF727 rebuilt kits are the same...AMC used the TF series AT's.

Re: Jeep automatic transmission Q.

I understand the internal partss are the same, but I am getting conflicting information on the bellhousing bolt pattern. So far it is 50/50 will work/won't work. Has any one tried or is everyone guessing?

Re: Jeep automatic transmission Q.

Sorry if we confused ya'. Internaly the "Chrysler pattern" TF999 is the same as the one found in AMC's. An AMC pattern 999 will NOT bolt to a MoPar engine, and vice/versa. The bellhousing bolt pattern is different between these two users of the Torqueflite transmission. The AMC TF999's were built by Chrysler, but had AMC's bolt pattern. Hope this clears it up.

Re: Jeep automatic transmission Q.

Internals = the same.
bolt patterns = the same.

It's the SAME transmissions.

The differneces are in the tailshafts and what their internals, the spline count in the output shaft and bolt pattern for the transfer case.

Re: Jeep automatic transmission Q.

LEVE, are you saying that a MOPAR bellhousing and an AMC bellhousing are the same?
