Anyone put a 9\" in a cj5???

I've got a Ford 9" from a 78 Bronco, and a Dana 44 front axle from a 75 Ramcharger. My question is, has any of you guys ever put a 9" in a cj5 with a SOA. If so can, you tell me any special mods required. I know I'll need a cv drive shaft, but other than that, is it posible??? Any info would be greatly appretiated !!!

Yes, it is possible, I have a friend running a 9" with a mini spool and airbag leveling, in addition to the SOA, on his CJ-5. He goes anywhere. Can't tell you how it fit, but I don't think he did anything special. Well, maybe he did, he also grafted a 4.3 V-6 fuel injection onto his 258.

If you get a Ford 9" from an earlier version Bronco 66-76 it's supposed to be only 4" wider, and the spring perches are supposed to in the right spots already.... I say "supposed" because it's just useless info I have in my melon. No real experience with the 9"......

Hello "amcforme" welcome to the board. I may be alittle late but that alright. That 9" you have may need to be cut down and narrowed to run it in your CJ,then also the spring perches may need to be re-located. It may take some fabrication to swap those in. You could run them at stock length under there which would give you a lot wider, stable stance but 'am unsure if your laws & regulations would keep it street legal. But I can't say that it hasn't been done.

gmc350, I do plan on running the axles at full width, I think they are 65" wide, I'm not to concerned, about the street legal part because it isn't street legal now, but it's only illegal if you get caught....
