Oil pressure Dropping

My oil pressure has be dropping rapidly since I got my jeep back from the garage the work they did was a new pan cleaned my pick up and new main seals. It used to run at 30 psi no it is down to like 10-15 at 1500 rpm which really sucks. Any opinions on what to check The engine has 206000k's on it and compression is fine THX.

Re: Oil pressure Dropping

Well, why did it need a new pan? What kind of oil did they put in when they filled it back up? What oil do you normally run? Do you know if they took the oil pump off to clean the pickup? Perhaps the pump gasket wasn't put back on correctly, or the pump's not tight. Did they take the pickup off the pump? This usually bugs up the pickup tube and you can't get a good seal when it's pressed into the pump.

Sorry, lot's of possibilities here.

Just my opinion,
Good luck
Pete

Re: Oil pressure Dropping

It shouldn't pose a problem. There is most likely someone here more knowledgeable on AMC but according to Smokey Yunick, 10 psi per 1000 rpm is all they run in racing engines. I would think that you are ok.

Re: Oil pressure Dropping

I agree, 10 psi for every 1000rpm is what the norm is, but that is once the oil is up to temp....it would be higher with a cold engine.
