Where can I get a High amp alt?

I'm looking for the highest amp alternator that is externally regulated, and is relatively affordable.

Any ideas?

Extremely high amp and affordable? good luck!!
You can find reasonably high output alternators in the salvage yards. I found 5 120 amp alternators in as many scraped taxis in a local u-pullit yard.

Re: Where can I get a High amp alt?

I contacted this guy on E-bay. Here's what he told me:
yes we have a 160 amp alternator for your 94 YJ 4.0L, our part number is
13341-160A, price is $99.99 $15.00 shipping, let us know if you want to
order one, use our part number in all emails

...His e-mail address is:
[email protected]
I don't know if it's externally regulated and I think they're remanufactured(rewired), but you can talk to him.

Powermaster makes a badass high output alt that charges at lower rpms. I have one on both of my jeeps. I will try to find you a part #

Re: Where can I get a High amp alt?

I'm looking for an externally regulated one. The ones sold on ebay are all internally regulated. I'm hoping to use it for an on board welder. How can you tell the amp rating on an amp while it's still in the car?

Also, can a v-belt pully replace a serphantine (sp) belt
pully?

Re: Where can I get a High amp alt?

The amp output is stamped on case usually by the adjusting ear....the bolt that you loosen to tighten the belt. There is an "A" after the number. Also FYI an alternator doesn't care which way it spins, v-belt or serpentine applications. Also there are web sites that show you how to convert an internally regulated alt. for welding applications.

Autozone has a 108 amp for 90 bucks, externally regulated. I found it for an '86 buick station wagon.
