82 CJ7 help needed

So people helped me out with my 77 CJ5 questions, so here's another set for a CJ7 that I found.
It's an 82 - 125K miles, 6 cyl stick. Needs a windshield, seats, and a fair amount of bodywork to make it happy. Comes with a hardtop and a bikini top, chrome AR wheels and good tires.
It was overheating, so the guy put a new thermostat on, and that seemed to fix the problem. Also put a new brake master cylinder on it. Far as I can tell, everything seems to work otherwise.
Rust - there's been some makeshift attempts at repairing the rust, but there's some work to be done there. I'm thinking I can poprivet some repair panels in there (JC Whitney - anyone know another source?) with some silicone and be done until I decide to get a new body down the road. Rear wheel wells seem to be the worst.
I got him down to $850 - think that's a good deal? I do, but I need other opinions. I'm thinking - worst case, I can always part the thing out for that much!
Any help is appreciated!!!! I need a Jeep bad!

Re: 82 CJ7 help needed

you could buy it for 850 and make 3 times that much parting it out or build one hell of a fun toy but for 850 dont let it get away

What's the frame like? If it's the same as the body and pretty well shot, I might pass on it unless you like parting out vehicles. You would get the $850 back out of it, but is it worth it?
If the frames not too bad, I'd give him the $850.

Re: 82 CJ7 help needed

sounds like a good deal. Like the other guy, parts alone are worth that. Sounds like a good hunting jeep!
