I've had it with the little chincy plastic rocker door locks on the inside of my '81 CJ hard doors. I've removed all the parts, cleaned and lubed them three times now, and the driver side still binds up every winter. I've thought about redesigning the internals and trying to mount a pull-up pin lock, or maybe even an electric setup, but I don't really want that. Has anyone come up with an easy alternative to those damn mini plastic pieces of crap?
You said it, winter, your grease is getting too cold and making the parts drag against one another. I just had bought a set of 1981 doors that are in "cherry" condition. They had the same problem as yours, I took brakeclean and a small stainless wire brush and cleaned everything spotless, the latching mechanism needs very little lubing. Mine now works slick'er than snott on a doorknob. Hope this helps.
