A friend is driving me crazy with the subject of tire fit.

What has to be done to fit a 31 tire on a 97 TJ( I think its a TJ, it has round headlight and coil springs)

What about the sway bar?

He keep talking about offset rims. No idea what he talking about

I've been told that a stock TJ can accept 33x9.50R15's by a tire shop. Don't know for sure if it's true though. If it is, check my post on the Jeepster board titled "Tall skinny tires" for sources of that size.

Yup, they will fit, just adjust the tire stops to stop the tire from hitting. Slap them on and go. Forget the offset rims unless he has 6" wide rims, then they'll bulge too much to fit correctly. A 7" or 8" rim is fine, both also came from the factory. As to the swaybar, get disconnects, it'll wheel a lot better, for on road use, no modification is necessary. Disconnects cost from $60 to 200, depending on what style you get.
