Re: Survey: What axles are you running

Currie 9" front and rear. Almost a shame to only have a six, but it's a very healthy six. Still, a couple more cylinders might be kinda nice.

Re: Survey: What axles are you running

front is a scout dana 44 w/a detroit and 4.56 shortened 3 inches
rear is an AMC 20 with moser axles, detroit, 4.56
both seem pretty durable with 35X16 boggers and lots of horsepower

~~Elusive~~
it's sort of still a cj thingy....see it at www.jeepgod.net

Re: Survey: What axles are you running

Scrambler: Scout II D44's Front and rear, lockrights in both, 4.10's
After the 350 swap I plan on running D70 rear with full spool and D60 front with Detroit or ARB, both with low gears.

TJ: Stock, D35C (blown once already), D30, Trac-Lok, 3.55's.

Commando: D44 (flanged, stock) rear, D27 front, 3.73's. Will upgrade front to D30 (from Scrambler) and lock both.

Willys: stock running gear on both, will lock eventually.

Re: Survey: What axles are you running

I am still running the stock axles front and rear, 30 front with a power lock and 44 rear with a true track, 35"x12.5" BFG Mud Terrains. Have yet to break either one except from outside influence. The rear R&P went after two of the socket bolt heads popped off in the true track and went through the gears several times and out through the cover. The only problem with the front is when I was driving on the freeway with front only the next week while I was waiting on the new gear set for the rear and lost the vent hose and all of the oil. Other than that I have done no damage with ~400 lb-ft of torque available feeding a T-18 granny low. But I do tend to try and "crawl" an obstacle rather than hammer over it!

Re: Survey: What axles are you running

Narrowed 14-bolt with Detroit and Dutchman shafts in the rear.

Narrowed 8-lug D44 with Lock-Right and resplined stock shafts in the front.

I tried welded rear shafts and broke one which shattered a bunch of teeth on the first Detroit. (Lesson learned there.)
