Rear main leak?

Ok...a few weeks ago I noticed some oil drips under the 'ol CJ. Sure enough it looked like the rear main. Replaced the rear main, sealed everything up.
I still have some oil leaking from that area. Not a lot but a few drips.
Here are the two things that seem odd to me...

1) It only seems to leak when I shut the engine off.
2) The oil that is leaking in not hot. Its only warm...shouldn't oil leaking out of a 195 degree engine be kind of hot??
BTW...its a 304 V8.

Mabye I didn't get a good seal on the oil pan? Mabye its gear oil from the tranny (doesn't smell like gear oil)? What do you guys think?

Re: Rear main leak?

Just for grins, check the back of the valve cover gasket for leaks. It drips real slow and can look just like a rear main leak...just a thought, I went throught the same gig this weekend.
