M38A1 D-ring shackles...

While looking at pictures of an M38A1, I noticed it had D-ring shackles that mount to the top of the frame where the newer Jeeps mount tow hooks. Is there a source for those out there somewhere? I like the way they look better than hooks.

Re: M38A1 D-ring shackles...

I made all of my JY mounts, for the D ring shackles. The 2 outside mounts have an open area in the middle to accept my tow bar mounts so I inserted hooks into the openings along with a D ring on the out side, it protects my tow bar mounts and gives a quick attachment point also. the inner mounts are just 1" thick steel welded to the front and back of the bumper connected with a 1/2" steel dowel, I had a structural welder, install these for me using a stick welder for good penetration. Here is a picture attachment. It works great for me.

If at first you dont succeed, your replacement will try and try again.

armyjeepparts.com has them, $95/pr. I dont think they are listed on the website though.
