CJ-5 Alternator conversion

Is there a bolt-on AC Delco (GM) alternator for a 1972-74 CJ-5 with the 258
The GM alternators are much cheaper, and are widely available and don't
require a separate voltage regulator.

Searches done on this news groups and other sites indicate that certain GM
alternators are "bolt-in" for certain jeeps but my trip to the auto parts
store seems to indicate that I will have to modify the mounts. I don't mind
adapting the wiring but would prefer not to fabricate a new bracket.

Re: CJ-5 Alternator conversion

Hit the wrecking yards for a later AMC or Jeep to get the mounts for the Delco alt. A '76 should be a safe bet on matching your other pulleys. The original Motorola alt is a piece of junk!
