CJ5`s with Front Roll-Bars , who has one ?

Who has a CJ5 with the front Sport Bar ? I just wanted to know if some are curved (under the dash) or are some of them straight ? I emailed Olympic 4x4 and he said his for the 5`s are straight to the floor . Seems that would take up a LOT more room than need be .Pretty sure I`ve seen curved ones too , need to order one so any input would be great . What brands curve away from the door opening ? Thanks .

Jeff

Used to have a 5 with the cage straight to the floor. Made the door opening pretty tight. As if it wasn't already tight enough.

I have the Smitty front hoop, it is straight. Entry/exit isn't too bad. When I added the angled bars on the side it got worse. If not careful you'll be on your face quickly.

I got the Kentrol kit from 4x4 hardware, and it is curved underneath the dash. I'll post a pic as soon as I have it in.

Hey Zilla
Don't have any pics to show but, I have the Smittybuilt designed for no dash. Straight down the dash and straight to the floor. Did the install myself. Made sure everything was square and as close to the dash as practical (about 0.5 inches).

I too was concerned as I'm not a small guy but it actually came out pretty good. Lost a little entrance and exit room, but there is an art to a big guy getting into a little Jeep anyhow. Learn to use the inner spreader for a clutch point as you enter. This helps reduce the loss of consciousness due to violent cranial impact with outter spreader. I was planning a custom bent setup that would either pass through the dash and on to the floor or at least tuck under the dash and then to the floor. I don't know of any pre-bent bars that do this.
Due to time and tube bender constraints, I chose the Smittybuilt method.

don't know who makes it, but here is mine. It does block the emergency brake, but I don't have them anyway.
