Rear tire rack/can holder

Hi, I saw a swing out tire carrier and gas can combination in a JC Whitney catalog. When I called them they said it was discontinued. Its for a 76-86 CJ7 or 5. The body mount type.Any one know where to get one of thies? Ive seen all the elaborate rack systems out there but I only want a body mounted swing out tire and gass can set up. Thanks jim.

Re: Rear tire rack/can holder

you should look into the rear bumper/swing out tire carrier combo. Adding the extra weight of a bigger tire and a 5 gallon jerry can to a body mounted system might start tearing body panels loose.

I have one on my Jeep it was made by Valley Industries,I like it a lot and have never had a problem with it I also have my high lift mounted on it and my CB antenna.Valley Industries makes lots of stuff for towing so any where that handles that type of stuff could probably hook you up with one.

I've got the one from jc whitney for pre in71 cj's. Works pretty good but puts lots of stress on the body as mentioned previously. I'm planning on converting mine to bumper mount.

Don't buy anything made by Warrior Products. Junk, Junk, Junk.

I've got one of those ... I think ...
New and never installed that I got with a '77 CJ-7.
I'll sell it pretty cheap. Write me and I'll take a pic of it for you...

I think Canyon Crawler makes one like that. A friend had one on his CJ; holds two jerry cans and he had a 35" spare. He did have to really beef up the mounts though.
