I thought about making my own for the same reason. My tires hit my inner fenders quite hard sometimes.

yeah i'm sure you could make some. i've seen pics of a couple different kinds but need to find a vendor. yjason said he has some along with a 2" body lift. he's running 35's.

Re: anybody use bumpstop extensions?

I have some that came with my lift, they are the type that attach to the axle via the U bolts.. they don't like to stay upright most of the time, but I don't worry about them anymore, I just let the tire rub.. it aint that big of a deal..

Re: anybody use bumpstop extensions?

Had some bump stops come with my 3in lift on a 94YJ. With 33's they don't do a thing. Tire hits before bump stop. So if you do make them make sure your measurements are accurate. On my 94 the bumpstops also hit a piece of rubber mounted to the frame so I'd take into account how soft the rubber is/isn't.

sahara-
yeah i don't like the sounds of a bumpstop attached to the u-bolts. i am leaning towards an extension or "block" if you will placed between the existing stock rubber bumpstop and the frame. so your 35's rub a little with the 6" susp lift? front and rear or just rear?
thanks

Re: anybody use bumpstop extensions?

pierced-
sounds like your bumpstop extentions mounted on the axle and attached to the u-bolts? never seen these but am trying to visualize unless that is the design yjason showed me? yeah i was thinking about the dims being "critical" as far as them stopping the articulation before tire hits body. that's why making them could be a good idea- cost and first attempt may not work. the "piece" of rubber you speak of mounted to the frame is your "stock" bumpstop i believe.
thanks

Re: anybody use bumpstop extensions?

For my rear bumpstop I just ended up using the stock ones with a piece of 2"x4" rectangular box as the extension, I was going to buy some long bumpstops but they are $$$ and this was free So far its worked fine...

Re: anybody use bumpstop extensions?

m715 has the right idea. 3 years ago I made 1" extensions out of 1" square tubing and longer bolts, cost about 50cents and works fine.

Re: anybody use bumpstop extensions?

Now that I think about it using that extension trick, with the square. Is the way to go. I only used mine b/c I already had them. You could make them just as high as you need with them. I would do some fender trimming first though.
