Flexplate balance for 258/727
I got my new flexplate on Friday. I'm doing the 727 swap into my 82 CJ-7 with the 258.
The flex plate has a weight welded to it and it appear to be heavy on the side with the weight.
Now I thought the 258 was internally balanced requiring a neutral balanced flywheel. Is that correct?
If it is, why is there a weight on the flexplate? Is the torque converter counterweighted and the flexplate weight balances out the torque converter weight?
Also, the tranny came out of a Waggy with a 360, is the 360 internally balanced, same as the 258?
