TH 400 Modulator Lever?

The TH400 tranny in my 78 CJ is leaking (ever so slightly) from the modulator assembly (only while the tranny is cooling, which is weird.) I pulled the modulator and the modulator adapter to check the O-rings. Come to find out there is no Modulator lever in the adapter. I called a local tranny shop, and the local Jeep dealer. All they could tell me was "good luck finding one." Anyone got any ideas? Also, how was it working without it?

Thanks,

Jim

I do believe that the new style modulator will fit in there with the driveline in place, thereby eliminating the adapter
