How Does One Make Louvers

I'm sure that this has been covered before, but how does one go about putting Louvers into their hood? I want to allow some of that hot air out and it looks very cool.

Jeep...need I say more?

Re: How Does One Make Louvers

A friend of mine has a street rod shop and they have a louver press. It is a big electric/hydraulic press that you can fit a hood on. They have dies for 2"-6" wide louvers, and some that have nipples in the middle for a different style. They will strip the paint, lay out the lines and start punching away. Pretty net thing to watch, sucks to sand around them though. They did a metal tonneau cover once with 500 louvers in it, took a lot of time sanding that one.

Re: How Does One Make Louvers

I have a F/G hood, and one technique I saw that would probably work for steel as well is to buy a section of louvers already punched, and install them onto a cut out rectangle on your hood.

A hood scoup of some sort that you liked would do the same thing and be a lot easier.
