body lifts

I think I have really gotten myself confused as to how body lifts work and where they are placed. I always thought that a body lift was placed between the axles and springs to add height. Is this correct? Does anybody out there have a good diagram or something that I can see?

Re: body lifts

no dude-
the body sets on the frame but not bare metal to metal. there are say 11 "points" or locations where the body comes in contact with the frame. at these points is a "spacer" or "mount" made of hard rubber which cushions the ride and probably other uses. anyway, a body lift involves adding a spacer of variable thickness depending on how much you want to pull the body away from the frame. this will allow you to fit a taller tire on the axle because the axle is attached to the frame by the springs. make sense?

Re: body lifts

What you are talking about don't have a name that I know of other than "lift blocks". They are not the ideal way to go I would advise you to stay away from this type of lift. sas gave a good description of a body lift and you usually don't want to higher than 2" with a body lift.

Re: body lifts

Here is the right rear bodymount on mine. It is a 2" lift. Hope this helps.
