the great spray can paint debate

A while back I followed closely a post discussing in detail all the reasons for using rustoleum spary paints for wheels, bumpers and many other things as well. After several hours of searching I have decided that northern Utah just doesn't like that brand of paint, at least not enough to stock more than a few Martha Stewart colors. I did find a silver gray hammerite that would probably look great on my stock wheels and several stores have other brands of rust blocking paints. One is any epoxy based that has a pretty decent selection of colors. I'll probably use automotive paint for the body of my 3a's, but I'm very interested in more opinions/suggestions for the interiors and trim accessories. And also I cannot find any herculiner at the local k-mart. TIA

Herculiner is usually by the truck bedliner section of automotive dept. Try asking someone if they carry it or can order it .

I'm a big fan of Hammerite. I painted my frame, wheels and gas tank with the stuff. I had better luck with the hammered finish
than the gloss or flat.

Re: the great spray can paint debate

That Rustoleum hammerite look alike stuff is crap. It is terrible and chips off just being on the Jeep. I sprayed a bumper with it and it started coming off two weeks later and I hadn't even taken it wheeling. I would suggest a couple coats of Rustoleum with a brush for bumpers, skids, etc. Spray cans for non high wear areas. The have some industrial stuff that is good.

My local NAPA and ace hardware have herculiner now too. For the same price as K-mart. You may want to try them too.

Pep boys has Herculiner & Duplicolor spray cans of truck bed liner, plus Duplicolor in a roll-on kit (with pan!)

Some other places to find Herculiner are: Napa, G.I. Joe's, Tractor Supply Company, Qyality Farm & Fleet, 24-7autoparts.com, Ace, True Value, Trak Auto, Fleet Farm, and Murray's Discount Auto Stores.
