Re: G. wagoner D44 swap into yj
When I shopped for my G.Wag D44 front I noticed there were some of them that had some sort of thang attached to the housing of the 44, I avoided those and eventualy found an 87 with no thang, a bit over 60" and solid hubs, but Ill be using Ford hubs and rotors. I havent spent much time with this swap yet, but it looks like ill have to have an extension added over the knuckles,to raise the tie rod and drag link, many companies are producing them(Tri County Gear), but better yet, many local 4x4 machinists are reproducing them at the shop bench level for a fraction of the price. You need a flat spot machined also on the tops of the knuckles to except the new brackets, ive been quoted about $300 for all parts and machining.
If at first you dont succeed, your replacement will try and try again.
