Question for TEX the tire guy

TEX, I remember some time back you said you had talked with someone at Interco about some new tire sizes. I am interested in the 34" 10.50 "I think this is the size" swamper. I have tried reaching a guy by the name of Dev at Interco but have had no luck. I was told he was the person to talk too. The swamper dealers in my area say they have never heard of this size, and say Interco does not have it. Do you have any info. on these? Thanks.

Re: Question for TEX the tire guy

I believe the 34x10.5 size was added to their heavy duty line of tires. Not sure if they would be great for off roading where you want sidewall flex, as I believe they are intended for service truck use in nasty conditions (stiff sidewalls and high load ratings).

You should be able to talk with anyone at Interco about this, not just the person you mentioned. http://www.intercotire.com

Re: Question for TEX the tire guy

Yeah, I'm not sure either, but I too saw that article on the 34X10.50. I don't recall the load rating (as I remember) being overly high, so hard to say on the sidewall stiffness. Don't know Dev & not sure when these will be out. Sorry I couldn't help more. Try DRM's link - their address should be there. If not, I can get it for you. I generally correspond with Warren L. Guidry at Interco.

Re: Question for TEX the tire guy

TEX, thanks for the info. I contacted Warren (Nice Guy) he said "that there was some problems with the mfg. in India not getting the tires out, so they are now looking to some US mfg. to build this and some other "new" size tires. He said they are going to have the 34" 10.50, 31" 11.50 and a 33" 13.50 for sure, but he does not know an exact date. He said there would be info. on the web site as soon as they get it. Thanks.

Re: Question for TEX the tire guy

That's funny, the local off-road tire guy we deal with here in Maine lists 34x10.5 Swampers for about $130 each. Although I have never seen them, my older brother just sold his 34x9.5's to buy a set from him.

Re: Question for TEX the tire guy

JEEPN, Warren (Interco) did say a few where made, if you or your brother have access to some I would owe you a great deal for getting me in touch with the right tire guy in your area.

Re: Question for TEX the tire guy

Glad to be of any help. It's Ron's Off-Road in Winthrop, Maine and his number is (207) 395-2431. He's usually home in the evenings, like after 5 PM EST, because he has a full time job during the day. He's trying to get enough business to make the shop full time and he's a nice guy.

Re: Question for TEX the tire guy

Just out of curiosity, did you call? I see he has a set of 4, 34x10.5x16 on 16" rims for sale, 3/4 tread, for $550 listed in this weeks Uncle Henry's Swap or Sell It Guide, if you're interested.

Re: Question for TEX the tire guy

That would have been great, but I think I have worked out a deal with someone and would hate to back out at the last minute. Thanks for thinking of me though.
