Bonco-nice tires for jeeps pictures

1 Attachment(s)
Wife and I where at the lumberyard the other day and I saw this nice early Bonco
on this Ford was 5 bolt rims with 9:00X 16 tires. Man they looked nice.
They look like they had to be 33 in to 36 in across.
I waited for awile for the owner but he didnot show while I was there.
Got to thinking on the way home that 9:00X16 would be a bi tire not a radal tire.
RIGHT????

9.00X16 is generally considered a 35.5X9/16, with a true diameter of around 35". Too bad I can't see the tread a bit better on those. BTW, almost all 9.00X16's are bias, but Michelin makes military/Unimog tires in this size as radial$, and I'm sure others do as well.

Yeah, that sizing method usually tells of bias ply tire, but from what I see those look an awful lot like a Goodyear WorkHorse.... I "think" that is what they say on the tread (blurry, but looks familiar) - do you remember what the lettering was?

The tread was some what like BFG MT
the name on the tire was somthing i have never seen before.
my best spelling Mc Clerery tires??????????????? McClearey???????????
It was a nicer bronco than our $69 cam could ever show.
The way he had used diamond plate was done very well.
I would of liked to have talked to him .

tex how narrow could one go with a tire?? And end up with 33inchs high???

Re: Bonco-nice tires for jeeps pictures

How narrow? Hard to say. Closest size that I know of that's really narrow is the 7.50X16, which is essentially 7.5" wide, 32" in diameter, & fits a 16" rim. P78 is a narrow 33" size that's roughly 10" wide. The folks at Interco tell me they want to shy away from new super-narrow sizes for a couple of reasons. First, a tire that's extremely tall in relation to it's width can present handling problems unless it has a very stiff sidewall. And second, the smaller contact patch of the narrow tread can detrimentally impact tire wear. They apparently get a lot of complaints specifically about the 38.5X11, which is very narrow for it's diameter. It's too bad, 'cause I'd love to see a 36X9.50 TSL. It would kick some serious booty in mud racing!
