Reminder- Trail Ride in CO

Well it's time for an non sanctioned trip to Gold Lake Road/ James
Creek Road in Jamestown, CO. The date of this trip will be on April 30th, 2000. And we will meet at the parking area for the running path / Foothills Park along Lee Hill RD., just west of Broadway in Boulder at 9AM. This trail is moderate trail and makes for a good family trip. The trail has several turn offs that can get a little harder but nothing that you couldn't handle with a basic 4x4. Below I put a link of a trip review from Colorado-XJ mailing list with an unknown author (tell me who wrote this and I'll give due credit) Maps

We may encounter some left over snow and it will be a little colder in the hills you may want to prepare for wet/cold conditions. (I ran this trail in March after a fresh snow, and at that time a factory 4x4 made it through. This trail is not a busy trail so we can take the time and try some of the side obstacle's if you wish to. If you want to come along, hope to see-ya then.

Re: Reminder- Trail Ride in CO

I don't know if you have been up there recently, but the trail you are planning on is closed at the Jamestown end!!!! It has actually been closed for a couple of months, but they just got the gate up. The amount of 4 wheeling along that portion of the trail has caused erosion enough to effect Jamestown's drinking water supply (the creek).

I just went up this weekend and did the Gilepsy Gulch trail, it is open and the snow is clear. This connects up with the Jamestown-Ward trail. Although, there is one section that I had a lot of trouble and almost turned back on, with my stock 98 TJ and 31" tires.

Re: Reminder- Trail Ride in CO

The trail you refer to definitely is closed. The sign on the gate reads:
Road Closed by Order of the County Commissioners

You may want to adjust your plans as suggested above.
