Willys body on a Samurai!!

I want your opinion, what do you think about taking a willys body and put it on a Suzuki Samurai drive train?

Re: Willys body on a Samurai!!

Well, I have torches and a welder, so anything can be done.

I still wouldn't do it though. To cross lines is one thing, heck, I have a Zuki and a Scrambler (just for openers), but both should be kept separate. It's one thing to swap parts, it's another completely to masquerade one as another, especially a piece of American history.

I plan on swapping in Jeep springs, tranny, axle, and maybe some other parts, but not a whole body. Just doesn't seem right.

Re: Willys body on a Samurai!!

I saw that thread on the Suzuki board too. I guess if the guy wants to he can do whatever he wants, it's his sandbox and he can play however he wants. But the Willys/MB he posted a picture of, he said he had several, looked pretty nice. If he had just a body and not a truck that appears to be so complete I probably wouldn't think twice about it. Personally I think it's a sad day when an old, rare truck like that gets taken apart, much better to restore it.

Why drive a luxo-box SUV when you can lay in the dirt busting your knuckles under old iron? '77 CJ-5, '64 S2A Land Rover

Re: Willys body on a Samurai!!

Usually I don't argue with body/parts swapping. But it just doesn't make sense to me. Everybody that is running 'zukis are replacing the engines. The stock suspension isn't anything super. Especially if you weigh it down with all that old iron. I say run either one, but keep the body and frame together. Swap motors/trans/axles what ever. But an old willys onto a sammi, is just work without gain.
