Axle joints and other stuff to replace..

I'm in the middle of tearing out my old front axle joint and replacing it with a new Spicer joint (FREAKIN' HELL!!!). I'm going to replace the wheel bearing also while I have it apart. What all do I have to buy to complete this job? I already have the axle joint and the differential gasket. I'm buying the bearing tomorrow. Just need to know what I'll need to pick up while I'm at the auto parts store.

might as well do the Spindle bearings while you are in there ,wheel bearings are one messy job Have lots of solvent ,paper towels /shop rags hand soap.

Re: Axle joints and other stuff to replace..

why do you have a differential gasket to replace the axle u-joint?
be carefull when you are beating the old joint out that you dont nick the surface the bearing cap presses into, this is the leading cause of the u-joint caps working there way loose

It's not that bad once you do it a few times, it takes about 45 min.
You might as well check the ball joints while you're in there...there is a spindle brg. seal kit. that has everything but the wheelbrg. seal...

I was thinking the same thing.

BFH, small screwdrivers (or picks), grease, and maybe a bearing packer if you want to speed things up. Oh yeah, also a seal remover and light hammer to tap it back into place.

Re: Axle joints and other stuff to replace..

The reason I have the gasket is because I'm changing the oil in the differential. Don't know why I included that in there; must have been half asleep when I typed it. Alright, off to the curb to cus some more.
Thanks...
