Rotted Frame

I went to put on some nice checkerplate on my jeep where the bumperettes are and while I was under there I noticed that my frame is pretty rotted. It goes up past the rear shackels. Any advice on repairing this?? THX

Re: Rotted Frame

Cut some oversize patches from some 1/8" plate and either cut the old metal out and weld them in or clamp them on and weld them over the bad spots.

Re: Rotted Frame

On the CJ's that I've repaired I used some heavy wall tubing.I removed the gas tank, cut the old frame rails out, beveled the new tubing, left about an 1/8" gap for 100% penetration, then ran a couple of fill passes.

Re: Rotted Frame
