cj winch mount

i see receiver mounts for the front of yj's all the time. Is there that bigh of a difference in the frames. I have a multimount winch that I do not want to permanently mount to the front of my jeep, but realy would like to have the receiver over the frame rails instead of replacing my front bumper with one that has a receiver built in. I'm thinking about building a plate for the frame rails, then welding a receiver assembly to the plate. So many projects and so little time. Any recommendations.

Re: cj winch mount

I have seen a few different removeable mount systems, but this one seems the simplest. It's used by the Navy on one of their trucks. If you need another idea, let me know.

Re: cj winch mount

JEEPN, do you know who that mount is made by and will a Warn 8074 bolt to it? i have always been leery about the Warn mounts with the single 2" receiver. i would rather that 2 receivers and have to make custom bumpers. thanks for any info! matt
