Where to get 8.8 Ebrake Shoes? Dealer Wants $100!

Hey guys
I am rebuilding my 8.8 and getting it ready to install

The ebrake shoes are SHOT and need replacing, the hardware is all ok (springs and such) but the shoes are gonzo

I called the local dealer and he quoted me $98 for the set of 4. This sounds a bit whacked to me

I tried Napa and Autozone but they say they are dealer only item. Any ideas??

Thanks

That's what I heard too. Scary. Maybe you should try some yards and see if any has a dismantled axle. Or just forget the e-brakes.

Just take them to a brake jobber and have them relined. That should only cost $30 or so.

That's a great idea. Now where do you find one of these 'brake jobbers'? For those who don't have mechanic girlfriends , are they listed in the Yellow Pages? Under what? Inquire at shops? A little more info would help as I'll be looking at the same thing eventually. Btw, just noticed that even though the linings on my e-brake pads look pretty thick there are some small hairline crack across some of them. Is this a big problem? I'll take some pictures later to show.

I had the ebrake shoes on my transfercase brake done through a large Napa around here, and they sent them out. My yellow pages has a section called Brakes- lining and Brake Shoe Bonding & Exchange. Any machine shop that turns brake drums could help you find a place if you can't find one in your yellow pages.

Must be nice to be in the big city, my yellow pages goes from Braces....to Brake Servicing....to Brass! That's a good idea to get them relined. I'm going to keep calling around and see what kind of $$ it runs. Post if you find prices!
