I just got my new gauges in and am going to start my beast in the morning. I havent ran the engine for more than a few minutes since I swapped it in. (no guages scared me, ooooh)
what should my oil pressure be like if everyhting is in place. oh yeah-its the 304 w/stock displacement. thanks to all.

Re: oil pressure?

All seem to be a little different for each engine. As long as you have 10lb for every 1000 rpm you'll be fine. Most will have 40lb+ at start up at around 2000 though if they are fresh.

Re: oil pressure?

thanks dirt dog,
I started it today and it went straight to 60psi and idled down to about 10psi @ 900 rpm. I was advised earlier today to up the weight of my oil. to around a 20-50.??
