how to clean a soft top? kinda long...

ok heres the deal. me and my friend went out muddin the other day in my TJ and his 4Runner. well were both 17 and our parents arent too fond of the idea of us actually using the 4 wheel drive so as far as they know...we were at the beach. well there was a car wash right outside where we went and we just decided to wash the jeep and runner there. well i got all the mud off and the jeep looked pretty shiny...like it just got back from the beach. problem is, when the black soft top gets wet,it looks like there's no mud on it. well by the time it dried, the top of it is pretty much brown...stained with mud. so i just rode home with the top down so my parents couldnt notice. problem is...im gonna have to put the top up sometime and theyre gonna have to see it. so ive gotta get the stains off there somehow b4 they find out and permanently ban me from driving anywhere. so any solutions to my little problem? ive tried soap and water, doesnt work very well. any of you guys ever had to get the stains out? what did u use?

It's not a CAR, it's not a TRUCK...its a JEEP-get it right.

Try washing it using a soft (or medium) scrub brush.

here is what i do on my softtop. Go back to the car wash and use the tire degreaser stuff on the top. Let it sit on there for about 5 mins. Then hose off. The only problem with the degreaser is it takes the wax off of the paint so you may have to repolish.

Can someone please bring me a hammer my 33's just ate my fender again. Damn i need more lift.

I use Maguire's Vinyl and Rubber cleaner/protector. It's like armourall but better for your vinyl. That and a mild scrub brush works great. It also keeps the UV from ruining the top.
