Ford 8.8 brake hardware prices ?!?

OK, these are the prices I found so far for the swap:
calipers, loaded: $220 /pair
2 right hose: $27
2 banjo bolts: $10
+ shipping: $15
==============
Total: $272

Anybody who's doing this swap found anything better? The whole axle was less for c#@$% sake!

That's a better price on the hoses than I could find.

But, If I'm remembering correctly (was just last week) that when I bought my calipers (but I had cores luckily) i asked how much they'd be without cores and I was told $75/side.

That was at a Advance Auto parts here in Bangor, Maine.

I haven't got any more prices, other than those from the dealer. I may try to get some tomorrow though.
What's a banjo bolt btw?

CharlyA: Was that price loaded with pads, etc? Can you get me a number for them, maybe they'll ship... I found a set still on the truck in a yard an hour from me. I'll go Sat. to take a look. Supposed to have everything for $35 a piece! I believe it when I see it though. Luckily I have till end of July to round a set up from somewhere.

v8jeep: The banjo is the banjo shaped factory hose end fitting that has a hole through it. The banjo bolt that has a hole inside it goes through this hole with copper washers sealing it on either side. Actually the Autozone site (http://www.autozone.com/Library/Prod..._products.html) has all kinds of good info and explanatinos with diagrams of all these and many other things.

The number is 207-990-2422.

I thought Advance Auto parts was national.

So there may be a place closer to you.

They had this price ($150/pr.) for A1-Cardone brand remanufactured calipers, unloaded, $20 extra for a set of semi-metallic pads. Loaded is a crock of [censored], you can get pads and snap them in for usually half of the extra cost for the "loaded" pads.

Hmmm, I was checking out what parts were needed to load the pads myself. Aren't there some shims and other stuff that's needed? I don't know what extra comes with the calipers and what with the pads. I thought besides the pads I'd need to get all these other shims and bushings and stuff...

nope, the springs come with the new pads, that's all you'd need. Even if the springs don't come with the new pads, theyare cheap (like $2).

No shims or anything like that.

Re: Ford 8.8 brake hardware prices ?!?

Well, that sounds much better then. Now I'm really hoping for those junkyard ones. For the 500 miles max I'm putting on the jeep per year even somewhat worn pads should suffice. Makes a big difference: $70 vs. $270 ! Now everybody go to sleep!
