I know this is not what you want to hear but I say it anyways. Take your time! How long have you been hanging out on this board? If it's less then 6 months active participation you should hold on and gather more info. And money. Depending on what you want to do buying the thing is only the beginning. You should budget 1.5 maybe 2 times the purchase price total including mods. You'll get the bug. You will. Go find a jeep buddy or club and wrench on something so you'll get a first hand experience on the parts, rust, orthopedic creeper, dust and gear oil in eye, etc. Then when you find your dream YJ you can look it over with plan in head already. Been there, done that. I rushed out to get one. Thanks god, I got very lucky on a lot of things. But I know people who did the same and didn't get lucky. Since they're relatively hard to come by I'd get the total budget together, get all the knowledge and hands-on experience in me and do the search with money in the pocket, creeper, gloves, flashlight and some tools in the trunk ready to make a full assesment and plonk the money down right on the spot. But take your time.

Preach on Brother kutyafal!

Holy Toledo, he makes sense!

Prepare to sacrifice all on the alter of the Holy Jeep NOW or don't make the comitment and run, run now while you still can....

Like any religious cult... Jeepdom wants your mind, your body, and of course your wallet and dumb, but happy, you'll give it all the above.

The Bright Side: You don't have to give up eating tasty animals!

Re: Buying a 91 Jeep

You don't need a 91 wrangler and only a 91, any fuel injected 4liter wrangler is a good ride. The 91 may be cheaper than say a 93 or 94 but the newer one will have less miles. I was lucky to get an 87 with only 100k on the odometer, but it is very likely that a 91 could have just as many miles on it. Shop carefully, look at more than 1 and pick the best you can afford. And like Kutyafal said, make sure you budjet for the mod because after-market parts add up real quick.
